Wayfarer

“We are, all of us, also wayfarers on a greater journey, this one without end, each of us searching for the answers to the unspoken questions of our hearts.”

In a nutshell…

Wayfarer is the sequel to last year’s Passenger (Review Here) and it begins with Nicholas trying to make sense of the revelations dropped at the end of the last book whilst journeying to find Etta. Meanwhile, Etta has been orphaned by time and stranded in a foreign time and place crosses paths with some old friends.

My Highlights

📖 Family

This book focused fairly heavy on characters of the story which were previously overlooked and I liked that time was taken to expand these characters and their relevance to the story. It added some fairly touching moments which was I wasn’t expecting.

📖 Travel.

What I really like about these books is that there is a huge variety of locations and all are creatively set into the story.

📖 Redemption

I really enjoyed watching the growth of certain characters in this book and it was very satisfying to see some fairly despicable characters become likeable and good people.

📖 Romance.

I’ve always loved the story of the two characters in this book. The characters are very engaging and relatable and I love the significance of their relationship within the events of the story and how it is perceived by other characters. I was sad to see these characters spend time apart in this book but I feel that it was for the better of the story as it emphasised how strong their feelings are for each other.

📖 The ending.

The ending, there were a few moments in this book where events felt like they were diverging and it would be very hard for all the storylines to diverge at the right point. However, when the tales to merge back together it is in a very unexpected and satisfying way in which situations are resolved. I loved the final outcome from this book and I was surprising to see the significance of previously overlooked details.

I would rate this as

After this series and The Darkest Minds series, I am a big fan of Alexandra Bracken and I cannot wait to see what she does next.
